The hard part was knowing when not to clean.
Alert Buddy was shaped by the uncomfortable cases: finance promos that borrow serious language, food offers that sound like delivery updates, and social alerts that sometimes become work.
The first product decision was to make safety visible. Cleaning is useful only when the user can understand, correct, and rely on the decision.

OTP, banking, security, delivery, work, job, and direct-message alerts are guarded before cleanup rules run.
Local classification
Notification text is classified on the phone, not sent to SmartVec servers for AI classification.
History with reasons
The app records cleaned, protected, and visible decisions so users can inspect the system.
Narrow tuning
Misses are fixed from real evidence, then checked against protected categories before shipping.
Teach Buddy
When the signal is mixed, Buddy asks instead of guessing.
Some notifications carry conflicting evidence. A private message may look promotional. A shopping alert may mention delivery or payment. In those cases, Buddy keeps the alert visible first, explains the uncertainty, and asks what should happen next time.
